hussein chalayan 1994-2010

fashion designer Hussein Chalayan is featuring in a contemporary exhibition at Istanbul Modern art museum.

Chalayan, who has amazed audiences with his creative style, embraces many different fields such as anthropology, history, science, philosophy and technology and politics in his designs. Chalayan has been named British Designer of the Year in the years 1999 and 2000, and his works have appeared in many prestigious locations, such as the Tate Modern Museum, the Contemporary Art Museum in Tokyo and the Louvre in Paris.The Istanbul Modern Exhibition is being run with support from the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency, Istanbul Fashion Week 2010, Istanbul Fashion Academy (IMA) and Design Museum and is curated by Donna Loveday.Hussein Chalayan's exhibition features his fashion collections along with his art and film projects between 1994 - 1999 and explores his ideas about issues such as technological progress, displacement, immigration and cultural identity, as well as his approach and sources of inspiration.
